Dancing Tulips

The third, and final quilt, from Betty R. of Haymarket, Virginia is Dancing Tulips. This fun quilt was a quick quilt to quilt all in all because I combined blocks to minimize stitching-in-ditch. Stitching-in-the-ditch is time consuming....so anytime it can be minimized it will save time, and, therefore, money. I was able to save time with this quilt by also using one (1) color predominately over the entire quilt. More on that later....

I used Glide #60, Cream, by Fil-Tec for stitching-in-the-ditch and fill work. I did use Harriet Hargrave's Private Label .004 Nylon by YLI to stitch-in-the-ditch around some of the applique. The bobbins used were Magna-Glide Classic in Cream from Fil-Tec. I really like Glide thread but used it sparingly in the past because of the weight. So much of my quilting is dense. I, therefore, prefer 60 or 100 weight thread to reduce a thready appearance. I do not want thread to be the first thing you see....I want the beautiful piecing and/or applique of my customers' to be front and center. Then I want the viewer to see texture....and, up close thread and gorgeous Innova stitches. I was very excited when Fil-Tec came out with a 60 weight Glide thread. I have used it a couple times now and absolutely love the results! This thread blended so well with all the fabrics that I didn't feel the need to change thread. Yahoo!

Thank you once again for joining me. A big thank you goes out to all my customers!

Have a great day!

Julie
