Memory Quilt

This is the quilt that needed to be completed before Christmas. I really wanted to make sure that it was finished with enough time for the maker to bind and wrap. I am happy to announce that it is in the hands of the maker now - 12-16-2017.

This quilt was pieced and appliqued by Jane C. of Nokesville, Virginia for her son with his father's ties and shirts. I loved how this quilt turned out. The combination of the shirts and ties with the deep blue sashing made for an elegant quilt. I wanted to make sure to create quilting that showed off this elegance.

Once again, I had my quilting plan....I quilted a row of the background as planned and did not like the look. So, after ripping out the quilting, settled on a simple swirl background. Sometimes simple is best....

The gold thread and design used in the sashing elegantly frames the blocks. It was the needed something something to show off the Dresden Plates.

The border came about because I only had an inch or so of fabric which is not enough to be able to use an extended throat plate with. Time was of the essence. I remembered Angela Walters using the Wavy Wavy pattern. I love the texture that it creates plus I didn't need my extended throat plate.

Thank you for joining me. I hope you enjoyed seeing the latest quilts that I have quilted.

Happy Quilting!

Julie
