Mariner Compass and Pineapple Twist Quilt
Hi Everyone, I have missed writing....and, have found that I enjoy it more then I thought, and, have actually missed posting in my blog. Spring is March 20th - right around the corner. Yippee, boy, am I ready! I spent almost the entire month of February in Washington State and it felt like we had snow everyday. Then, when I returned home, we had more snow here in Virginia....I love snow but man am I definitely ready for spring! Are you? The quilt I am sharing today is a

Churn Dash Checkers
The second quilt of Betty's is Churn Dash Checkers...this quilt was quilted with a traditional digitized edge-to-edge pattern called Orange Peel. This pattern is perfect for this lovely quilt. Sometimes simple is best. I used So Fine #50, Tee Pee, from Superior Threads on the top and Fil-Tec Magna-Glide Classic, Light Tan, pre-wound bobbins in the bobbin. The batting used is Quilters Dream Orient from Quilters Dream Batting. I love how simply beautiful the back is! Thank

Shenandoah Valley Botanical Album Quilt
Hi Everyone ~ I have been working on a beautiful applique album quilt made by Patricia D. of Gainesville, Virginia. A little background on the quilt pattern. The quilt pattern is based on an original quilt made by Ester B. Matthews in 1858. The Virginia Quilt Museum in Harrisonburg, Virginia sponsored a monthly Sew Along to raise awareness of Ester B. Matthews' quilt and to help fund the Virginia Quilt Museum. If you are interested in appliqueing your own Shenandoah Valle

Linked
I received an email from Betty J. asking if I could imagine a quilt design that would work on this quilt? Oh yeah, way too much fun....I printed out the picture of the quilt and sent back 3 different designs. She chose a design and away we go..... Before I get carried away talking about this quilt, I want to make sure to give credit where credit is due. This quilt was pieced by Betty J. of Woodbridge, Virginia. The pattern is by Fabric Therapy and can be found at The Quil

Simple Whole Cloth Quilt for Everyday
Hi Everyone, Short on time or maybe you just want an everyday quilt/spread that is customized to specific colors without having to piece a top? This quilt does just that. Two (2) pieces of extra wide fabric layered over batting and quilted together with an edge to edge pantograph. Simple. I love this! Maybe choose a neutral color palette to showcase different quilts on the end of your bed through the changing seasons. Or, maybe, you just need a quick quilt for picnics or

Applique Quilts
Hi Everyone, Two (2) quilts in this blog today. The first is a spring shower.... Definitely, partly cloudy with a spring rain in the studio with this fun quilt. Water was the theme of the 2015 Row by Row (it seems like last year - yikes). It's Raining Cats and Dogs was the row for a local quilt shop. This quilt came about through that row. I love what my client did with this quilt. It was fun to quilt....sun, clouds, a rainbow and rain, of course, completed the quilting

Been A Buzzing in the Studio
Hi Everyone! Things have been buzzing in the studio lately....I love it! First, I have to say we have had thunderstorms rolling through today. I love watching them roll through. One (1) that came through today was a serious one that we've heard produced at least one (1) tornado (not confirmed). We just happened to be coming out of Costco when it buzzed through. We forged ahead to our car through the sideways rain and strong wind, then halfway to the truck it started hail

Embroidery Quilt
This quilt was fun to plan and quilt, and the design actually came together rather quickly. Some quilts I really need to think about and 'process'. Sounds weird, I know, but I would rather not take out stitches! And, yes, I have. This is the before....as you can see.... I made a to scale plan so that I could visualize exactly how the designs would look and fit in the spaces. The last couple quilts I have drawn out the designs. This design was definitely the most detailed
